I first saw Dr. White in 1997, and I’d been suffering with sciatic pain for about 12 or 13 years by then. He treated me on the first day with acupuncture, and I got off the table in tears (which worried him!), because it was the first time in that long that I’d been pain-free. The relief didn’t last forever, but our relationship has: if one remedy hasn’t worked, or hasn’t continued to work (and we’ve tried LOTS), Dr. White always has something else in his bag of tricks.
And I don’t mean that flippantly: he truly is very concerned with his patients’ well-being and wants to stop seeing them, if possible! In my case, the pain just proved to be recalcitrant, but I was willing to try almost anything to relieve this agony that seemed to have no real etiology. I went through X-rays, CT scans, MRIs … to no avail. But Dr. White NEVER made me feel like a hypochondriac: he kept trying different modes of treatment, up to and including injections and opioid medications [in low doses – only enough to keep me from shooting myself].
Finally, in the fall of 2009, he started talking about having a spinal cord stimulator implanted, which scared me to death. I didn’t want some foreign object – especially an electronic one – put in my body! But the more I talked to the device representative, and Dr. White, and the patient ambassadors, the more appealing it sounded. And now, 6 months later, I can say in all honesty that having the surgery in July was one of the three best things I’ve ever done in my life. I refer to the stimulator as my little “miracle” – the only thing I don’t like about it is that eventually I won’t need to see Dr. White and his wonderful staff! I am so grateful that he has been willing to work with me for so long and been so patient with my fears and nervousness about certain treatments – but I have complete faith in him and always will.

Dr. Mark White has been treating me for pain since 2003, starting with recovery from jaw joint replacement surgery to surgery for a neck fusion of C5-6 and C6-7. In addition, I've also been dealing with a previously undiagnosed illness of malaise, fever, body muscle and joint pain - an illness that was only diagnosed last year as Lyme disease and suspicion of Malaria, altogether a daunting task for a pain doctor.
From the very beginning in 2003, Dr. White and his staff displayed sincere concern, followed with an incredible amount of knowledge. Dr. White's understanding and knowledge of human anatomy is incredible. He has literally diagnosed several issues of mine, as well as those of my husband and son by using common sense, asking many intelligent questions, and performing thorough exams that help him pinpoint the problem, thereby diagnosing what most doctors diagnose by way of expensive x-rays, MRIs and CT scans. These tests have definitely been warranted in some cases, but Dr. White ordered these only when necessary, not before exhausting his knowledge and common sense, which avoided not only great expense, but limited exposure to radiation.
Dr. White has been able to manage my various pains over the years continuously with great regard to my health - whereby I've maintained a healthy liver and all organs that could have been damaged by over exposure to medications. I credit him with keeping me out of pain as much as possible.
In addition to being a very medically proficient doctor, Dr. White's caring manner gives me great comfort emotionally. His entire staff further displays the same caring bed side manner which gives his office the feel of a Mom and Pop store that is virtually unheard these days. The entire staff has become not only my friends, but friends to practically my entire family. My husband and I have referred many friends and co-workers to Dr. White, and they have all given the same feedback about him and his staff.
I feel very fortunate to have been referred to Dr. White many years ago. Goodness knows I've needed a doctor to manage my various issues! The understanding of the pain that Lyme disease causes people eludes most doctors, but Dr. White has educated himself as to the pain Lyme has caused me, and has kept me functioning, which I was having a very difficult time doing. He's done so beautifully, and is a great person - a joy to have as a doctor.

I was referred to Dr. White for intractable, crippling tension/migraine headaches. I'd had the headaches since I was a small child, so I was not optimistic or enthusiastic about seeing yet another physician about them. Happily, I found Dr. White and his staff to be friendly and caring and they immediately put me at ease. Dr. White took the approach that there is always a way to address any issue and he never gave up on finding a solution that worked for me. Every interaction with Dr. White and his staff has been completely positive and I could not recommend him and his practice more whole-heartedly!
